BYRNE SURF commenced back in 1977 with 3 brothers based in Wollongong, Australia they started building surfboards and before long were the centre of the surfboard industry in the world. During those early they ran summer learn to surf clinics and since then Chris the youngest brother has continued to coach some the best kids and upcoming pros where in Bali, where he has been living for past 7 years and prior to this visited Bali and Indonesia travelling and surfing since the year 1978.
Chris Byrne ‘ Critta ‘ is renowned as one of the best surfers of his time throughout the 70’s & 80s and now holds a level 2, ISA International Surfing Association and ISA Aquatic rescue & Safety certificate. He is an accredited coaching instructor. Since 1977 his professional career is more then impressive former Australian and world champion, rated in the top ten in the world 4 years consecutively on the IPS and ASP professional world tours.
Chris was the head coaching director of the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF SPORT / SURFING where he created unique elite coaching programs for intermediate surfers preparing for WQS and WSL world tours.
Sami Gustsfsson is a sport Management Graduate from University of Australia, with over 30 years of surfing experience and is dedicated to physical performance and injury prevention specializing in stretch, strength, recovery, breathing and injury prevention. Sami has previous experience employed as a surf guide and host for Tropical Tube Lords in the Maldives and has more recently has been a consultant as an assistant coach with Bali s International Surf Academy.
Local surfer originally from Lombok now living in Bali with 20 years of surf travels and experience. The past 7 years he has been working as an instructor with Byrne Surf Bali in Bali and East Java.
